Artist’s Statement

My art is about life, form and colour subjectively and objectively.

I have been interested in art most of my life from painting stones, representing what I see and imagine to expressing what I feel about what I think.

I have been interested in depicting people then chose more abstract shapes.

What I enjoy about art and design is a sense of play and digesting difficult thoughts and emotions to resolve a problem.

My favourite artists include French cave painters and Post Impressionists, Abstract Expressionists and Italian Rennaissance artists.

A Scottish painter Andrew Walker inspired me to use brighter colours when he said he wants people to go away from his pictures feeling happy.

Materials I like are charcoal, oils, clay and stone.

In my future I want to paint more the world I experience and develop stone carving as I have been working as a stonemason for the past 18 years.

Currently I have been working on small abstract paintings and seek challenging stone related or visual art projects.
